This page is an interim signpost to Indigenous-led resources, not a culturally reviewed guide or a substitute for community authority. AI Down Under has not yet obtained First Nations co-authorship or specialist cultural review. No endorsement by the organisations linked below is implied.
Start with community-led principles
Maiam nayri Wingara’s Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles assert control over the data ecosystem, contextual and relevant data, accountability to Indigenous peoples, and protection of individual and collective interests. The CARE principles set out Collective Benefit, Authority to Control, Responsibility and Ethics. Read the original resources rather than relying on this short summary. Questions before using an AI tool
Removing an uploaded file does not necessarily remove its influence from a trained model. Do not promise reversibility without evidence from the provider. Public availability is not, by itself, a reason to assume culturally unrestricted use. Do not enter restricted knowledge into AI as part of an exercise on this site.
What we will not claim
We will not claim to speak for communities, describe invented local projects as case studies, or certify a workflow as culturally safe. Further material should be developed with appropriate contributors and clear agreement about attribution, consent, review and compensation.
