Output Check Lab

A reusable acceptance-test sheet and practice spotting plausible mistakes.

  1. Choose the actual decision the output supports.
  2. For each important claim, name the source a reviewer can check.
  3. Create a normal case, a missing-information case and an exception case.
  4. Check for omissions, invented commitments, incorrect calculations and unsupported recommendations.
  5. Reject or revise failures. Repeat the checks after revision and record what still needs a specialist.

Your worksheet

No confidential information. Filling this sheet does not send data to an AI provider. Blank prompts can be copied separately.

Tab-only state. Nothing is stored after you leave. Keep your downloaded worksheet somewhere appropriate.

Optional prompt · use only approved inputs

Review this draft against only the approved inputs I provide. Return a table: claim or omission, supporting input, pass/fail/unknown, and correction. Flag unsupported claims even if plausible. Do not manufacture citations. Do not call the work safe or compliant. Suggest tests for normal, missing-information and exception cases.

Using this prompt in another service sends your inputs to that service. Check its settings first. It is not a tested guarantee of output quality.

Before you use the result

  • Does every pass have a traceable reason?
  • Are omissions checked as well as sentences that are present?
  • Is the cost of a wrong answer reflected in who reviews it?
Practise judgement

Spot the polished mistake.

Three original, fictional exercises. Compare the draft with its inputs, not with how confident it sounds.

1. The extra promise
Approved input

Approved FAQ: open Tuesday–Saturday, 9 am–4 pm. No delivery policy supplied.

AI-style draft

We are open Tuesday–Saturday, 9 am–4 pm, and delivery is always free.

Show explanation without answering

The hours match the input. “Always free” is an invented commitment. Delete it or ask for an approved delivery policy. A staff member still reviews and sends the reply.

2. The missing exception
Approved input

Policy: returns within 30 days for unused goods. Custom-made goods are excluded. Statutory consumer rights are not addressed by this exercise.

AI-style draft

Customers can return any goods within 30 days.

Show explanation without answering

“Any goods” loses the unused-goods condition and custom-made exception. Preserve both, and do not use this fictional exercise as legal advice about consumer guarantees.

3. The impressive number
Approved input

A team has completed one draft. No time measurements, cost records or customer research are available.

AI-style draft

The pilot delivers a proven 40% productivity gain and happier customers.

Show explanation without answering

Neither outcome is supported. Record measured baseline, checking and correction time first. Gather customer evidence if it matters. The honest current result is “not yet measured”.
